WFH rating: Possible if done right

Srilanka is a well preserved nature wonderland. It is completely possible to be a corporate nomads but you need to be aware of a few things:

  1. Due to the economic crisis in Srilanka there are daily power cuts. You need to be aware of which accommodations have power and wifi during a power cut.

  2. Data plans are generally reliable and you can do video/audio meetings over hotspot with a good connection from a phone plan which you can buy at the airport. I average about 4 GB a day with few hours of video calls and screen sharing.

  3. Consider carrying a powerbank that can charge your laptop. I use this one for my mac.

Transportation:

  • If you are in Srilanka for a few weeks and want to visit a few cities, I highly recommend getting a driver with a car. I used Nishanta (details below). He is trust worthy, cheap and a tour guide + driver. He will customize everything for you to make your schedule and interests fit. You can reach him at +94 76 972 9217 on whatsapp.

  • There are other transportations such as bus, train. I have not done those except for the train to Ella (a must do) which Nishantha arranged for us.
